Easy Homework Station Ideas that Inspire Learning and Creativity

We created our own homework station by adding some navy blue cabinets, a sturdy quartz countertop, lots of drawers and cubby spaces, and a MILLION power outlets under the desk. It has now become one of the most-used areas of our house because it doubles as a homework station and arts and crafts area.

Losing important school papers is the absolute worst! I should know, I used to be the queen of doing it. Those extra random papers can really accumulate. You know, those papers that don't have a due date, papers regarding extracurricular activities, or whatever else. We try to keep those papers somewhere in our homework station where they won't get lost or forgotten about.

Ever have one of those homework moments when you couldn't find a pencil or calculator for the life of you? Yeah. Not so fun. I recommend keeping common homework and art supplies within arm's reach of your homework station so there is NO excuse for them to not do their math!

Our kids have cubbies in our mudroom that they use when they're not actively doing homework. Otherwise, they hang their backpacks on the back of their designated chair at our homework station so they can easily grab anything they need from their bag and add the homework to it once they've finished.

You can really set up a homework station anywhere! Some kids have one in their room, others may share a space in the family office area, and others might end up doing at the kitchen table. The important thing is finding out what works best for your child and your home space.

As a parent, where do you pay bills, do research for your next home project, or work from home? Maybe you have a command center in the kitchen, a separate home office, or a desk in your bedroom. The point is, you have a designated space to work. Why not have a homework station for your child? Having a designated space helps you focus on your tasks. The same is true for children, perhaps even more so, as they are full of energy and even more prone to distractions.

You may not have a spare room for a homework station, but you may have a spare closet. If so, you can easily transform one into a homework zone. This nook provides ample room for desks and storage. Teens can work hard and play hard in this island-inspired room.

If you're really short on space, adding a dedicated homework station can be as easy as building this. Like a ladder-rack, this clever unit props up against a wall and can be anchored or left portable.

For most kids, the stress of daily homework trickles into a headache for parents also, leaving both parties tired and frustrated as they struggle to fit the activities into everyday life. The best way to make this inevitable chore less of a pain is a dedicated homework station!

A homework station enables you to keep supplies at close reach and minimize distractions, creating a quiet, dedicated place to study. A centrally located space may also provide the added bonus of more time spent together as a family, and gives parents a way to more easily monitor their children's study habits.

I did some looking around and I found tons and tons of amazing ideas on how to put together some awesome homework areas in my home! Some are a corner of a room and some are nothing but a little portable homework caddy but all look very effective at keeping all of the homework supplies right where you need them! Take a look below and see if any inspire you!

If you want their homework station to be somewhere the kids like to be, make sure it matches their personality. Especially if their desk is in their own room, let them choose the artwork, action figures, colors and other design elements. This is a prime opportunity to let them express themselves and carve out their own space, an important part of building a sense of belonging and individuality, according to child psychologists.

Homework stations, no matter how big or small, provide many benefits including helping to establish a homework routine, setting up an organized area with all the supplies your child might need, enforcing quiet time in designated homework area, and creating good study habits that will come in handy long term. Just like you have spaces for dining and watching television, your child can benefit from having a dedicated space for completing their homework.

No matter how much space you have available for a homework nook, incorporate storage and organization elements. A custom cabinet maker can build something to suit your needs, if you are building a new space, but if you are working with existing space it is easy to add bookshelves, cubbies and easy access storage containers. It is so easy to pick up these items from box stores like Ikea or Target to easily create a homework space. Keep a file box on hand to store completed homework, as your child moves into Junior and High School, they can keep this organized my subject, which will help with quiz and test preparation.

Homework can be a struggle if you are constantly running from one activity to another after school. Whether you are headed to afterschool sports activities, music lessons for a sibling, or errands, a portable homework station will give your children the tools they need to complete their schoolwork on the go.

I love that use for the back of the door! You can see all the supplies and make sure that your family has enough of everything. That would make it easy to keep my daughter accountable for putting away her supplies as well. After each homework session, I could easily check the supplies and ask her to return any that are missing.

Since many of us will have kids at home at the beginning of this school year, I partnered with Faber-Castell USA to create a post about setting up a kids homework station (or home school desk) for school at home with a variety of tools and supplies to make learning and creating at home as easy as possible.

With school starting for many families everywhere, homework is going to be something we are all facing. My kids started back to school recently and I knew that I needed to get our homework station organized so that it was easy to use and stocked with all the homework supplies they would need to be successful.

So I decided that the best way to approach homework organization was to create a central cupboard in the kitchen that had all of our homework supplies in it. But then I created a portable homework station with this homework supplies caddy so that the kids could move it around if needed.

What homework supplies should be included in your homework station? Anything that your kids will be needing to use while they work on their homework. These supplies will greatly vary depending on the age of your child and the classes they are doing homework for. Since I have kids in elementary school up to college, we have a wide variety of school supplies in the cabinet for them to grab if needed.

A few years ago we set up an awesome DIY Homework station for younger kids. It rocked. But then my boys grew up, and they were too big for it. It eventually got dismantled and now they are back to doing homework at the kitchen table.

It's an easy build, using just four tools, that will look great in any space you add it to. Two drawers and a storage cubby make this the perfect desk for your office or even for a teen that needs a homework space.

If you already have an at-home office, utilize part of it and install built-in shelving and desks to create stations for your kids to complete their homework without any distractions. Include a writing surface, task lighting, a corkboard for important papers, closed storage cabinetry, and cushioned comfortable seating.

I am so in love with this new Elfa homework station and just from the few weeks we have had it, I know the kids are too! It has been the perfect spot to corral all the creativity and energy from 4 young kids at home everyday!

I absolutely LOVE what you did here for your kids homework station! We recently bought a new desk for our office space since both my husband and I are WFH now and I have yet to organize the rest of the office! Love everything the container store has so will definitely be looking into getting some organizational items for there to help it all come together????

I would love to do a homework station for my two boys. Right now they are doing their homeschool on dinner or foldaway table. I believe that having their designated work space will improve their work habits.

A homework station is a specially designed and designated place for children for studying or for completing their homework and assignments. A homework station provides a comfortable place to a child where they can easily do their homework with all the supplies in one place.

There are numerous benefits of homework station for both kids as well as for parents. For kids, they will get a specified place where they can peacefully carry out their studies with all their supplies handy. Also, it helps them learn more effectively as having a homework station increases the focus for the children in the long run as they think this place is the proper place to study. For parents, they will not have to search every item for kids, from books to bags to pens and pencils in the whole house as they will have a designated place to stay. 2ff7e9595c
